Learn More & Take Action

“With those same voices working in unison, interior designers have the power to design a better future for themselves and the entire profession.”

The Right To Get Paid

Has a client ever not paid you for the work you perform on their property? We all know interior designers experience this much too often. It is time that we take action together and solve this issue! Learn more about the solution we must pursue and how it will positively affect your right to practice interior design everyday. Learn more & Take Action.

The Right to Get Promoted

Interior designers deserve the economic opportunity to be promoted in their design firm. They also deserve the right to own a design firm offering not just interior design services, but also architectural and engineering services. Unfortunately, too many states deny ownership and promotion rights to interior designers and therefore they are put at a competitive disadvantage relative to architects and engineers. The Right to Bid Government Projects

Both at the federal and state level, interior designers are significantly disadvantaged and many times not allowed to bid government funded projects. The Right to Copyright Interior Design Plans

Existing copyright law in this country does not provide the greatest legal protections as possible for the work done by interior designers. Learn more about the solution we must pursue and how it will positively affect your right to practice interior design everyday. Learn more & Take Action.

The Right to Affordable Education

Like numerous other professions, whether in or outside of the built environment, an individual pursuing an educational degree in interior design is required to assume costly student loans. It is a burden to the profession and a potential barrier to entry into it as well. Learn more & Take Action.

The Right to Obtain a Building Permit

The ability for an interior designer to pull a building permit, independent of an architect or engineer, for their scope of work on a project is fundamental to the advancement of this profession. Whether employed by a firm or practicing as a sole proprietor, the absence of this right has made interior designers subservient to architects and engineers. It has meant reduced wages in the workplace. It has meant lost business profits because interior designers are forced to pay architects a fee to approve and submit their work for a permit. It is time to end this monopoly on permit authority by architects and engineers. The solution is that interior designers must have the law on their side and be granted the right to permit authority anywhere in this country. Learn more & Take Action.
