About

Kirsten Flynn is a local interior designer and owner of Sustainable Home. She is passionate about helping clients define and achieve the kind of space that will work for them, and helping them to enjoy the process! She has a design degree from Syracuse University and was the first recipient of the Green Design Certificate from Cañada College. She holds additional certificates in residential and Commercial design, and Kitchen and Bath design. She is LEED GA (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Green Associate), CGBP (Certified Green Building Professional), Member of the US Green Building Council, and of Coop America Business Network. She enjoys creating beautiful interior spaces, and teaching and speaking about green building as it relates to interiors. She was pleased that Sustainable Home was selected to design the interiors for Santa Clara University's entry into the Solar Decathlon 2007. The entry took 3rd overall in this international contest.

We are a full service design firm, working primarily with residential projects. Our ultimate goal is to achieve a beautiful, functional, well-designed space that reflects the personality of the owner. We enjoy an eclectic mix of styles; cottage, traditional or vintage modern. We are passionate about helping individuals realize their vision. We believe every project is a collaboration between our firm, the homeowner and the contractor. We also specialize in helping a design or remodel project lessen its negative effect on the environment. We have a strong background in healthy, low allergen materials, and materials that make efficient use of natural resources.

Fee Structures

Sustainable Home usually works on an hourly basis, with the services of the principal designer being charged at $100/hr. and design assistant at $50/hr. We can provide estimates of hourly charges, or work on an not-to-exceed basis. We offer a free 1/2 hour meeting at the job site, so you can meet us before beginning to work together.
