The Challenge: Warming up a contemporary space by creating softness to enhance the existing personality. Injecting warm colors and materials to showcase the magnificent art collection while still keeping the space personalized and inviting.
The Solution: The new contemporary space is neutral with spontaneous bursts of color found in the artwork and in small accents. Replacing carpet with natural bamboo hardwood flooring in the living and dining room adds a soft touch to clean lines. The existing furniture pieces feature softened and rounded lines with clean details and interesting materials. Striking floor area rugs have been added to give texture and color to the new bamboo hardwood floors and to compliment the existing eggplant and mustard upholstery. The special collection of artwork jumps out from the wall displaying its beauty throughout the entire house. / Feuerstein Residence - Living Room
The smooth surface of the glass dining table is clean and focuses on basic lines, shape and form. Striking floor area rugs have been added to give texture and color to the new bamboo hardwood floors and to compliment the existing eggplant and mustard upholstery. The special collection of artwork jumps out from the wall displaying its beauty throughout the entire house. The dark zinc color contrasts well against the pure white walls enhancing the magnificent and bold pieces of artwork, adding texture and color to the existing richness of materials from the granite, deep beauty of wood and glass of this contemporary home.

Color is used unexpectedly – the artwork and textiles bring together the space. The existing lighting design is used as an artistic statement in a contemporary interior. Natural bamboo hardwood floors, a rich dark zinc wool carpet and striking area rugs bring this contemporary house warmth, comfort and softness – a style less fussy than traditional but encompassing a range of styles and pieces featuring softened and rounded lines with natural elements and bold color. By bringing in texture and fabric, the home is now a warm and personalized experience with punches of color.

This is the JSD logo- and there is a story behind it! The quatrefoil is Janelle's favorite shape. It is also a Gothic motif (one of Janelle's favorite periods for architecture). The quatrefoil is comprised of circles being pulled apart to perfection. The historic context of the shape combined with the contemporary feel of the geometry perfectly combine Janelle's taste for mixing history with current sensibilities. / JSD Logo
