Fee Structures
The majority of our projects are based upon a fixed fee, or a time and materials fee based upon hourly work with a not to exceed upset limit. We consult with our clients to determine the scope and extent of the project. From the initial meeting and, if appropriate site visits to existing facilities, we put forward a fee proposal for approval. The initial meeting is not billed to the client unless extensive travel expenses are required. A proposal may include sub-consultants if required or we may recommend that consultants such as electrical, mechanical designs be completed under design build scenario. Specialty services such as systems, medical or food service equipment may be under direct contract to the owner or part of the sub-consultant contract services. We utilize AIA contract documents for the client/designer or architectural contracts as well as our sub-consultant contracts. ECI/Hyer also holds many term contracts with larger facilities that allow public entities to utilize their design services on an as needed basis. The terms for these contracts range from 1 to 5 years.
