About
Janice Stone Thomas has been practicing interior design for thirty years. She is NCIDQ qualified, having passed the exam in 1988, and is certified in the state of California . Residential design has been her focus exclusively for the past twelve years, after becoming a certified kitchen and bath designer with NKBA. Her expertise in this arena is known throughout the region as she has been published by national shelter magazines and books many times.(See list below). A project for ASID Showcase House, a kitchen, won first place and Best Overall for the Central CA chapter in its Design Excellence design contest in 1990. Her most widely lauded project was called Clos du Lac in the Sierra foothils in 1991-2. This project, a collaboration with Henrik Bull of San Francisco, included three homes and several outbuildings for a Provence style development. Stone Thomas was responsible for the finishes, color use, style and furnishings for the whole project as it was presented to the public. Later, she was selected to be the interior designer for the Sunset Idea House in Serrano, El Dorado HIlls, CA working with the Sunset magazine editors. She is now serving her profession on the National Board of NKBA (Kitchen and Bath Association). Highly recognized for her warm, beautiful and functional interiors, Stone Thomas' continues to be passionate about her work and practices with a highly professional team of three at her Sacramento based Stonewood Design, Inc. Services Offered
StoneWood Design, Inc. under the direction of Janice Stone Thomas, ASID, CKD, is a full service residential design firm. Our services include design drawings, working drawings, color and material selection, furnishings. accessories,and art selection. Design of Kitchens and Baths is an area of special expertise while the interior architectural detailing for any type of room in the home provides essential dimension, personality and interest. Working as a team member with other professionals is a pleasure and often achieves the most outstanding results for the client. After the construction phaste the installation of furniture, window treatments and art bring a project to completion. Is a great house ever done? The clients themselves add the breathe of life and continuous layering that makes a home unique!

Fee Structures
StoneWood Design, Inc. provides services for an hourly rate and is billed weekly. The approach to the project is by our principle and her assistant along with another staff support individual. Everyone in our office is kept appraised of your project and is fully enaged with the details. A retainer and letter of agreement describe the hourly rate and scope of work discussed. SInce we are as small team only one person is billed at any given time. If and when there is overlap, you are not charged for more than one designer. Reimbursables are charged as they occur and travel is charged to cover automobile expense. You will be informed clearly of the tasks and time spent on your project and we are flexible and collaborative when it is desired by the client to participate more fully. Budgets are discussed openly and any adjustments to the standards are evaluated for very large commissions. Purchasing is considered under separate contract with the cost as presented. Very large projects can be approached at cost plus mark-up.
