Practitioner Members

ASID Practitioner Members elevate, inspire, and lead the practice of the interior design profession.

ASID Practitioners qualify for membership based on their education, experience, and examination.

  • Professional Practitioners have successfully passed the NCIDQ Exam, ARE, or ASID-approved equivalent examination.
  • Allied Practitioners have successfully completed a degree with a major in interior design or architecture.
  • Associate Practitioners have a degree in another major and six years of documented full time interior design practice.

PRACTITIONER MEMBER LEVELS

Select the Practitioner Member level based on your education, experience, and examination. More details on qualification can be found in the ASID Policies. Qualifying documentation must be submitted with your Practitioner Member type application.

Professional Practitioner

Appellation: Your Name, ASID

Professional Practitioner members have successfully passed the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam or the Architect Registration Exam (A.R.E.) administered by NCARB (or equivalent examination). Any member of a provincial association in Canada who is a member of IDC and any professional member of CODDI (Puerto Rico) is transferable to ASID upon proof of said membership.

Allied Practitioner

Appellation: Your Name, ASID Allied

Allied Practitioners have completed 40 semester/60 quarter hours of interior design OR architecture education from an institution accredited by the appropriate regional or national institutional accrediting body.

Associate Practitioner

Appellation: Your Name, ASID Associate

Associate Practitioners have completed a minimum of college-level associate degree in any major demonstrated by transcript from an institution accredited by the appropriate regional or national institutional accrediting body AND six (6) years of documented full time interior design practice.

Practitioner Member Rights & Responsibilities

  • Voting: All Individual members in good standing shall be entitled to one vote in any Society or chapter election or at any Society or chapter membership meeting.
  • CEU Requirement: ASID requires Practitioner Members to complete 1.0/10 credit hours of continuing education every two years to maintain their membership.
  • Member Mark: Members in good standing are permitted to use the ASID Member mark for their membership category.
  • Code of Ethics: Upon approval or renewal of membership, members will confirm that they have read, support, and will adhere to the Code of Ethics.

PRACTITIONER DUES & FEES

Professional, Allied, and Associate Practitioner Member dues are billed annually with the option to pay upfront or in quarterly installments. View the official ASID Billing Policies.

Quarterly Installment Option: $131
The first quarter installment is $201 and includes the annual $25 legislative fee and the annual $45 processing fee.
One Time Application Fee: $100
