Educational Project: The main purpose of this project was to develop technical skills with AutoCAD software.  We did this with two separate projects and one concept.  Our starting point was focused on streams and rivers, and I based both projects on the American Paddlefish.  As one of two freshwater filter-feeding species, these fish absolutely fascinate me.  My final concept centered on their gill rakers and the filtration of water: Raking Water.
Our first project was to design a bridge based entirely on the parti created to represent our inspiration.  While my bridge may not stand up to engineering standards, I chose to created a suspension bridge to span our seventy foot wide gully.
Our seciond project was to create a learning center that referenced our concept and focused on visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles.  While my bridge centered on the sieving of water through the gills, the learning center focused on the different types of filtration: mechanical, chemica, and biological.  It features a large scale filtration display, a cylindrical aquarium through the center of the learning center, and hanging models of different types of filter feeders.
