Debut event provides networking and educational opportunities 
for emerging interior design pros

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 10, 2011) | The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) introduces GO PRO: NYC, a weekend of events tailored specifically for emerging professionals in the interior design industry. The two-day event will kick-off on Fri., Sept. 16 with a tour of the New York Times Building and continue through Sat., Sept. 17 with a series of expert panels on topics including professional advancement, product development and pro bono work.

Friday, September 16 4-7 p.m.
 
PROject – New York Times Building Tour
Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the celebrated New York Times Building with FXFOWLE Architects. A reception will follow in the offices of Covington & Burling, featuring 360-degree panoramic views of Manhattan. Hosted by the ASID New York Metro Chapter.

PROduct – Joe Carini of CariniLang  9 - 10:30 a.m.
Famed carpet designer Joe Carini of CariniLang will share his experience working with Nepalese weavers and creating innovative maps of New York at his exquisite showroom.

PRO Bono Work: The Role of the Design Community 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

John Cary, author of The Power of Pro Bono will lead a discussion on the responsibility of the design community to take an activist stance and embrace pro bono work. A case study will be explored on the Harlem-based Girls Educational and Mentoring Services (GEMS) facility—an organization that empowers young women who have been sexually exploited.
