Increased collaboration between two organizations brings more opportunities for interior designers

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 07, 2009) | The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Vendome Group, whose Healthcare Division is behind the industry’s leading healthcare design magazines, journals, books, conferences and webinars, recently announced a strengthened partnership.

“Interior design professionals are looking for ways to advance their careers and build their business, and ASID has a responsibility to continue to add new programs and give support to its members,” says Michael Alin, Hon. FASID, ASID executive director. “The collaboration between ASID and Vendome is an opportunity to do just that.”

ASID and Vendome found multiple areas for collaboration.

Continuing Education – Readers of HEALTHCARE DESIGN will find a new way to earn continuing education units (CEUs) through distance learning, reading selected articles and completing a corresponding online course and examination at www.asiduni.org.  ASID now serves as the managing association for Vendome when seeking approval from the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) for online courses, webinars and conference programs.

HEALTHCARE DESIGN.09 Conference – Joining the ranks of leading industry experts such as The Center for Health Design, the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health, the American College for Healthcare Architects, the International Facility Management Association and the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design, ASID partners to develop educational content for this 4-day, solution-focused experience aimed at delivering successful outcomes for healthcare facilities now and into the future.

SECAD.10 Conference– As an association partner of SECAD (Southeast Conference on Addictive Disorders), ASID introduces a new track of educational programming focused around design of the built environment and its impact on patients suffering from addiction disorders and behavioral health issues. ASID adds to a conference agenda that will educate and inspire designers, counselors, trainers, medical professionals, architects and facility managers.

Environments for Aging.10 - Founded and produced by Vendome Group, publishers of Long-Term Living magazine, and The Center for Health Design, in association with the Society for the Advancements of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), the AIA Design for Aging Knowledge Community and now ASID, this event is a comprehensive three-day experience, during which attendees and presenters will explore and share new ideas for creating attractive and functional living environments that meet the unique needs of the aging population.

ASID Members Contribute Expertise – In addition to a bimonthly ASID column in Healthcare Design magazine, ASID will contribute a regular article for DESIGN/Environments for Aging magazine. A team of ASID health care design experts will also contribute to a weekly blog post featured on HEALTHCARE DESIGN’s web site, healthcaredesignmagazine.com, in HEALTHCARE DESIGN magazine and in the weekly HEALTHCARE DESIGN eNewsletter.

HEALTHCARE DESIGN Webinar Series – ASID joins Vendome in offering this series of 14 interactive webinars featuring top experts in the field of healthcare design to discuss topics professionals can put to use right away.

Long-Term Living Architecture and Design Webinar Series – ASID joins editors of Long-Term Living magazine, in conjunction with The Center for Health Design, AIA, and SAGE to offer an annual series of interactive webinars. Each addresses current issues and industry trends in the design and build of long-term care facilities.

Michael O’Donnell, Group Publisher for the Healthcare Division of Vendome Group stated the following: “It is always exciting to have the opportunity to form a relationship with a society, association or an organization that strives for similar goals as your own. Providing better education and greater opportunities to those creating healing health environments has always been a goal of Vendome Group and the addition of ASID as an educational partner is a key to achieving those goals.”
